Everyone is nervous Maria between the prep and the surgery to come but all I knew I wanted that tumor out of me at any cost. Just try and focus positive and give it all the fight you have and you will be just fine. Best of Luck, Joe ;)

Maria,

My husband was a wreck as well, right until he got on the bed the day of surgery, funny thing IS HE HAD THESE TWO NURSES,talking up a storm about him being the BIG surgery of the day..he was at ease again and he was more than ready to get it over with..Maria the worry is not worth it,,its a big waste of time , negative energy, of course you will worry, try to have a good time the next couple weeks, recovery is ahead, and life without cancer.....Ginger

Maria,

I am so glad that you found a great surgeon, and that you are comfortable with him...this makes the whole ordeal easier...you will do great! I will be praying for you to have peace the day of surgery, and that you will take comfort in the fact that the cancer is on its way out!!!

Best Wishes,
Karen

Hi Maria,

I am so glad to see you have a date set ! 2 days for the bowel cleansing is fairly normal... 2 days before you have a clear diet. The day before you do the golightly and enemas. It is what it is.
Has the surgeon shared statistics on neobladders? I was told how wonderful it would be and even told my fear of having to selfcath was not likely as I was a good candidate. Turns out I am self cathing 2 x a day as I cannot void completely and I started having back up into my kidneys. My new oncourologist has pretty much told me it will likely stay this way and I have to accept it. Given a chance to do over - I would have insisted on a pouch.
As far as the number of lymph nodes - I would want to know that atleast 25 - 35 will be removed. There is higher survival rates with extensive node dissection. There were 35 removed with mine I believe.
I wish you the very best outcomes, and I pray for your stregnth afterwards, too. It is doable and you'll be so glad to leave a bad bladder behind you :)

Hello Maria,

I am pleased you can focus now that you have a date for the RC. I was given a lemon drink the day before surgery to cleanse the bowel. I drank probably two and half litres until it ran clear. I used balsam wipes for cleaning each time to prevent a sore bum :)

You certainly know were to come if you have any pre-op questions :)

Maria take lots of deep breaths to steady your nerves you will be just fine...one more hurdle to jump.

Thinking of you...
Leigh

I only had to do the Golitely the day prior to surgery...i guess it depends on the surgeon or institution.
