Ginger, Back in the dark ages when I was in college they required we take a relaxation course. Everyone laughed at the idea. Now I appreciate the wisdom of learning some relaxation techniques. It looks like they need to teach it in middle school. The exercises will help. Julie

The Cleveland Clinic advised that Kenzie falls into that group of kids that at 12 they have the same make up, over achievers, perfectionists, and so on. If they eat certain foods they have blood in there stool, so diet is also to be looked at. She may have to give up dairy etc. Of course she told me every word he said and probably can repeat at any time. Boy, when I was 12 all I hoped for was that SISTER MARY ARELIA DIDN'T SMACK ME AGAIN, THESE KIDS THESE DAYS, SHE ALSO HAS TO DO RELAXATION EXERCISES..I am very glad it wasn't anything more serious, crones etc.

Ginger, I took a probiotic tablet that was supposed to contain live cultures to help keep good bacteria in my gut. I don't remember where I had read about them. I finally decided to stick with yogurt with live cultures preferably with no additives. I would buy Nancy's or Mountain High until we got a Trader Joe's here in Tucson. I like their Greek Style yogurt and it has several strains.
The idea is if you have sufficient 'good' bacteria then the 'bad' bacteria can't get a foothold in the digestive tract.
The article's Pat referenced were interesting and suggest that probiotics would be useful to keep the urinary tract healthy also.

Several people on the Bladder Cancer Cafe email list report they use Culturelle which is brand name for a probiotic.
Pat, my daughter is allergic to corn also and has IBS. I swear that popcorn set off my diverticulitis and I won't eat it.
