Well actually Hal gets a very hot bubblebath every night and doesn't seem to mind...but i would definately go for a very secure waterproof bandaid if i were in a hot tub or a pool or heaven forbid waterski on the Ohio River like an idiot...i wouldn't be surprised if thats not where the pesky little cancer came from in the first place...nothing like waterskiing in waste...aaaah youth!!

Thanks gang for the input...suggestions...

Joe, I have tried those tough bandaids earlier on and they do keep out moisture very well but my skin is so alergic to the adhesive. But I am sure I would rather deal with the rash than go into the ocean or lake without some type of coverage; it would just be creepy for me otherwise, thinking of all the tine sea creatures taking a close up look at Ms Rosebud. I don't think she would approve. Sure I would be wearing a one piece suit but some of those sea inhabitants are so tiny I would wonder if they could make their way inside the suit. I know, I'm funny.

Pat, Wow...a bath every evening! I like really very warm water in my tub...I suspect it would be too drying for me to do that every night...even after a shower sometimes, Ms. Rosebud looks kinda dried out. I'll just have to stick primarily with showers and let her have her freedom in the hot tub, and hope for the best.

I also watch the sun as it is different today I don't want too much sun in that area even with sun block. I had a prior surgery with a 15 inch incision across my abdomen and I'm at this motel pool one day and this kid says to his mom what"s that on that mans stomach and I winked at him and said son that's a battle wound the mother apologized I said no prob kids are kids and now I have the RC incision running up and across across the old incision my abdomen . I'm a tad self concious at times but I still go with no shirt till the sun gets too hot and then I put a tank top on. My abdomen is really a work of art lol and most older folks know the deal. This is where you ladies are lucky where you can wear a one piece bathing suit men don't have that option lol. Joe ;)

Pat I have that valve and it works great but my sister in law got a condo down in Ocean City, Md and I love the ocean and I think I feel more content with a waterproof band aid if I am in the ocean for awhile. But I am going to ask my surgeon his opinion on this as far as the stoma and being in the water or my stoma nurse. Also Pat you're correct as most of these water proof band aids have latex so you have to look at what you're buying. I have no problems with latex. Joe ;)

Melodie...i take a bath every night and i've never worn a waterproof bandaid...i've never had a problem...theres a little valve in there that prevents anything from getting in there...or at least they told me there was and i believed them.
For a hot tub or swimming there are non-latex waterproof bandages just about everywhere..just get the extra large ones for knees.

Melodie these are the ones I am going to try they are bigger ( 1 1/4 by 4 )then the regular band aid and that's what I want. I tried a box of these non waterproof and they are really nice never slip and they stick to you flat as a pancake. But as far as the waterproof ones they cost about $4 for 10. Joe ;)
