Thank you for your replies and kind words. I have been in the hospital since 2pm, its now 10.30pm...........major computer problems have caused chaos here on the ward. I hope to leave by 12.30.............a long day for all!!!

Joe the hospital, MD Anderson, yesterday the nurse on the chemo unit said they did not carry the ostomy supplies. Also my RC is not due until June. I have a blocked ureter due to the bladder tumor and that is why I have had the nephrostomy since February.

I contacted the Shands today who were extremely helpful and have arranged next day delivery, so new drainage bag due tomorrow. They said I should have been given replacement bags in February on discharge.

Today the MD Anderson nurses on the in patient unit have tried very hard to organize replacement bag but what they have in stock is non compatible for the type of bag I have.

I cannot vouch for this site, but they seem to have all the ostomy supplies: www.allegromedical.com/index.html. Most internet orders only take a few days to receive, in my experience.

Maria I find it hard to believe that this hospital does not carry or have Ostomy supplies is this where you got your RC done? I'm sorry to hear your RBC is done but not to have any bags is ridiculous. I was at the Univ of Penn and while I was talking with my surgeon my wife went back with this nurse to look at the catheters they had and her name was Myla. I have the pouch and she gave my wife like 8 different straight catheters for me to try and said here these are from Myla's Boutique Shop lol. Any hospital that does the diversions you would thing they have supplies and also should have a Stoma Nurse. Joe ;)

Hi Maria - I am so sorry to hear about your low rbc, but, like Leigh said, that should help with your fatigue. After his surgery, while Harry was in the hospital, he also needed a transfusion, and it did help. It sounds like you are weathering the latest bag issue well...glad that the freezer bag is a good temporaty fix. Just a reminder...you continue in my prayers daily!! I know you are strong and will get through this with His help, lean on Him. :) Hugs coming your way too! Margot

Dear Maria,

I am sure you will be feeling a world of difference once you have that transfusion.

Sorry to hear that you have drainage problems although you seem to be dealing with it very well. I hope that the supplier can send you out new supplies asap....it is amazing what you can do with a freezer bag.

Maria I wish you well with your chemo treatment...hang on in, it will be over soon.

Best Wishes..
Leigh

Have not been posting for a while due to what I thought was fatigue from chemo. However, rbc very low pre chemo today. Scheduled for 4 hour blood transfusion tomorrow, so hopefully will feel much better!

Problems again with nephrostomy tube, started with a green colored liquid a few days ago.......one off then disappeared. I do have another UTI with new antibiotics.
Anyway the urine drainage bag developed a slow leak at the weekend and this evening the leak is continuing, seems a problem with the open/close valve. I am using double quantity freezer bags and tons of tape to prevent total leak.
I asked about a new bag at the hospital today, seems they do not do Ostomy supplies, so will have to order replacement asap tomorrow.
Anybody had these drainage bag problems?
