Thanks for the input, Jeff! Things are improving slowly with me, finally getting some flow thru the urethra, and cathing is easier now.

What I found helped a great deal was what caused all our sphincters to relax before the RC-warm water! I ran a hot bath and climbed in, and presto! A little flow thru the normal route, and cathing was much easier. Quite possibly, my position in the tub also helped with the cath.

One day at a time-

Hi George,
I been using the red ones and the pain is awful for me too. He has me doing this once a week until 3 months post op. will order some new ones.

The only time I had the no pee yet bladder full was when blood clots blocked the opening very painful, this was before my RC.

Sometimes now the mucus will block me from going for a few seconds then it’s full stream ahead.

Do you have lots of mucus? If so do you flush the bladder? Do you drink the recommend amount of water everyday?

I’m surprised your Doctor hasn’t done something about this. It’s not good being full and backing up to your kidneys. You should not take this lightly.
Good luck,
Jeff

Thanks for all the input, folks. Because of your help, my Doc has agreed to give me a couple of the other catheters you mentioned. Hopefully these will alleviate that problem.

That still leaves the difficulty I share with Mike of not being able to void consistently. The best I've been able to do is a weak dribble, and often am not able to get anything at all, even tho my 'alarm' lower back pain is telling me my neobladder is full. Any similar experiences who have passed this way before and been able to move on down the road?

Hi Tim,

Great news Tim,

I wake up around 2am and look at the clock then fall back to sleep waiting for 3am. What used to wake me up at 3am isn't happening like clock work anymore.

I found when I sleep past 3 am, I reach my capacity I will leak a little which wakes me up, then I’m pissed at my self for falling back to sleep and not getting up sooner. This fight within my self happens at least twice a week. ;D

Did you find out the capacity of your bladder?

Hey Jeff
Good to hear your regimen is the same as mine. I get up once in the night now and this seems adequate.

I found sitting the best way to drain the bladder. Sometimes I need to bend over or to one side to completely drain. I stay until the stream has stopped and the dribble starts and wait a few more until the dribble slows. Also pressing down like for a bowel movement helps squeeze the last drop out.

I was told that my bladder works best at 500 cc should never have more than 100cc left after a pee. I thought all neo bladders where the same there not. Call your doctor.

You need to drink a lot of water through out the day again call your doctor if he didn’t tell you how much to drink.

I stop eating and drinking at 6pm.

10 pm I pee sometimes I sit there for 10 mins to make sure then go to bed.

I then wake up about 3 am and pee.

I’m good until I get up at 7:30 am
Hope this helps
