I am 5 1/2 weeks post-op cysectomy with Neo-bladder. Since you are having bowel issues, I will assume that you too had some sort of bladder fashioned from a piece of intestine. All that said, I have issues from time to time as well. My Dr warned me that this will be something that takes time to pass (bad words there). Essentially he said that they use the section of intestine that removes water from the waste.
At first I was havinig movements 3 - 6 times a day and it was very liquid. I would say that it was not untiil 3 weeks out before I had my 1st semi-solid movement. My Dr recommended having yogurt daily. Guess there is certain bacteria in yogurt that your body uses in digestion. All that was lost with all the pre-op "cleansing". I can not say for certain that that has helped but I did learn that different brands of yogurt contain different bacteria types. I have a variety in my fridge.
I am finding that different foods react in different ways. Special K cereal has become my special friend. That just seems too be one food I have found that never treats me badly. I am working to find others but sometimes it's difficult to say. I love many types of food but spicey and flavorful is key for me. This is causing some difficulty for me but I will not just eat Special K. I am slowly finding stuff I like that works.
In the mean time, do not be too proud to use a medicated wipe after you complete your business. When I first came home, I did not want to eat too much because I did not like going to the bathroom. My wife picked up on this and came home with the wipes and goodness... what a difference. I am not going to say that chronic "Loose Tail" (as my wife calls it) is any fun, but any thing that helps is worth it!
