Hi: I too am sorry to have to meet you here but this is a good place to come to chat with others who have been just where you are now. I agree with Holly, you need to be seen before August for a couple of reasons - your peace of mind - your health! I am a active duty military wife and had much the same problem as you, see my GP and then wait for him to put in an order to see a specialist and then wait for an appt. I travel to Walter Reed 100 miles ea way ( in D.C. beltway traffic) as that's where I finally got someone to listen to me. The only thing that maybe an appt with a GYN Oncologist might be able to pull some strings to get you to a Urologist at the University Hospital. I am assuming this is a teaching hospital. Where are you located? Are there other large Hospitals, Urologists etc within a few hours of you? If so, call them. Besure to keep us posted. Take care, Sandra

Hi,

Sorry to meet you here :-/

I had difficulties getting into urologist too...I lived in a town of 35,000 peoples about 1-2 hours from larger facilities. This board encouraged me strongly to persue care I needed and I am glad I did. Mayos in Rochester MN is 5 hours from me - but the did my RC neobladder 8 days after I made contact with them. I encourage you to make contacts and persue good care. My insurance is a PPO not an HMO so I had more choice. My hubbys insurance being secondary helped us alot too.

If I can help - just send a post. Good luck and God Bless, Holly

After being treated unsuccessfully for a UTI with many different courses of antibiotics since last fall my PCP finally sent me for an IVP last Saturday. It showed a mass in my bladder. The urologist I was referred to couldn't get me in until late August so my PCP tried very hard to get me in to other urologists sooner but had no luck. She ended up getting me an appointment with an OB-GYN who specializes in gynecological oncology at our local university hospital. The appointment is next Wednesday. Because I am stressed right now I feel the need to move forward in some manner so I am going ahead with this appointment, but I can't help but wonder if this is a waster of time. Has anyone else gone this route? I didn't realize that urologists were so hard to get into. Is there something else I should be doing? Somewhere else I should be looking? Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you.
