Thanks for the advice. Had 2nd TURB yesterday. All went good. So far not in muscle. Great news. Start 6 weeks of BCG on May 6th. Wondering how that will go but not complaining. Do whatever I need to. I turn 63 in June and had different plans for the summer. Been quite a ride since this started in January.

Your experience is similar to mine. First, breathe!!!! I had 9 BCG, more interrupted by the shortage, and clear for nearly two years.

With the BCG, suggest a Valium. I became very comfortable with the process in short order. In part, you need to “get your mind right.”

Please keep us posted.

Sounds similar to my husbands first diagnosis, he did the 6 weeks of BCG, however, for him the following biopsy showed had not managed to kill all the cells.
Not to be negative or say that is what is going to happen to you, for many others BCG has been the answer.
But we made our mistake by listening to our urologist who advised another round of BCG when it was in short supply and a few weeks wait.
If we knew then what we know now, we would have asked for a 2nd opinion and gone to a cancer center to speak with an oncologist.
By waiting, the cancer spread to muscle invasive, and continued to spread. Chemo before surgery knocked most of it out. Tissue samples from surgery showed no cancer in bladder, but small amount in one pelvic lymph node.
We are now in recovery from neo-bladder surgery, and return to Moffitt in Tampa this Friday for bladder activation.

From time of blood in urine to surgery was 1 year 5 months.

Thanks Alan
Looking forward to being able to say its been 12 years. Congratulations. I'm sure I'll be asking many more questions as time goes on.

Sounds like a pretty standard battery of tests. CT Scan, TURB and scope. High grade pathology usually means a 2nd TURB to be safe and confirm the results and making sure margins are good. BCG is also a big help for the majority of patients and there are MANY that been here and still around years later. I am almost 12 years out. Easy to say now for me but, it is one day at a time. In several months you will have beaten this and be stronger and more effective in life!

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Starting in January of this year noticed small amounts of blood in urine. By mid January blood increased a lot. Primary Dr. Sent me for a CT scan, urine and blood tests. All tests came back normal. Thankfully she referred me to the urologist for a scope which showed 3 tumors in my bladder. March 6th I had TURBT surgery for the tumors. The result was besides the tumors the cancer was in the bladder lining also. If I understand this right it's T1 high grade that has not made it to the muscle yet. Going back April 6th for 2nd TURBT for the lining cancer. Following that start BCG in May. I'm keeping a positive attitude doing whatever I have to. I appreciate being able to hear from others who are going through this with great results. The hardest part for me is not knowing what the near future is.
