CT scan, standard procedure?!

Urine cytology tests are notorious for giving false positive results (indicating the presence of cancer when there is none.) While there is always concern that the cancer has returned, most urologists put the patient back on a 3 month return schedule and monitor it closely before doing a TURB

CT is pretty standard. I have had 2 since my diagnosis last June.

It provides a wealth of information and early scan can provide baseline for future imaging.

CT scan came back normal but urine cytology is abnormal so they want to do a bladder biopsy and run a couple other tests. Is the concern a recurrence?

A CT-urogram is common practice with bladder cancer patients. I have had no sign of bladder cancer for almost 12 years now (stay tuned for my 12-year checkup in a week) and my urologist does a CT-urogram every five years just to be sure that nothing has slipped by. I do NOT want a CT since it does expose you to quite a bit of radiation, but my urologist got out several papers and the current bladder cancer guidelines for me to read and so I have agreed to this.

Your husband's doctor doesn't suspect anything but needs to make sure.

My husband is about 1 1/2 years into treatment (dx 8/18). So far, so good. He had a clean cystoscopy last week, next round of BCG in May after another cystoscopy in early May. Today he told me they called him in for a CT scan with contrast, they "wanted to look at his kidneys and ducts." Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go so I haven't found out why they wanted to do this. If the cysto was clean, why the CT scan? Are they concerned of metastases? We will have results on Monday.
