I simply do not know as I am not a doctor on the terminology. Yes, most path reports I see say G1 (low) or G3 (high) so I assume this group used G1, G2 or G3. Just be sure you have your question list ready. I am attaching a bookmark from years ago. At the risk of swamping you with way too many questions just pick and choose the few that might help with clarity. I know the waiting is hard but, that is part of this cancer thing. 2 more days is not a long time. It really is "one day at a time."

Pat yourself on the back. Caregivers suffer along with the patient and sometimes it is harder on you.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

I thought I'd see a grade and stage on this report. I see it says "intermediate" grade, but am reading that "intermediate" should be interpreted as "high." Is the stage something that the urologist will know or not know from this report? I'm a little puzzled by that. We see him in 2 days, so hopefully will come away with some more clarity and direction of what my Mom is dealing with. It says infiltrating carcinoma so I'm assuming that's invasive.

I second what Sara Anne has written. Those descriptions must be interpreted by a doctor. I am going to guess a second TURB will be done as the tumor as "intermediate" according to my URO 11 years ago he classified bladder tumors as high or low and considered the middle as high grade to be safe. So, that is one reason for possibly a second and add what I read (and could be wrong) but, it looks like there was no muscle or "margin" on the path report for the first TURB.

Do not despair. I understand BOTH places you have marked are good and can serve asa second opinion or read on things. Fresh eyes are always good for peace of mind.

It would appear from the path report that your mom's cancer had spread a bit beyond the bladder lining. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WE ARE NOT DOCTORS, and this is sort of a personal, unprofessional reading. If you are moving your mom to Philadelphia you will want to find a place that really specializes in more advanced bladder cancer cases and where a lot of such patients are seen. I am not personally familiar with the Philadelphia area, but if I were there I would probably start with either the U of Penn Abramson Cancer Center (a National Cancer Institute Designated Center) or Fox Chase.

Best to you
