Delayed side effects with Mitomycin

As Alan said, this is a question for your mom's doctor since he is familiar with her case. However, I can tell you that, as you have noted, there is no set schedule for BCG treatments. The one that her doctor is using is a common one that seems to work. Many times the treatments have to be delayed for reasons such as a UTI or bladder irritation and there is no major concern over this. She should be fine.

A question such as this I always defer to your medical team. However, I doubt starting 10 days early should be a big issue.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Hello. Hope everyone is doing well.

My mother is in her second phase of BCG maintenance (M2), scheduled to start June 18. She was initially told to start it June 28, as that puts her at exactly 3 months post M1. But because of her summer plans and family commitment, she wants to start it 10 days earlier. The physicians here haven’t been giving us a straight answer about whether that’s fine or not in the long term, but they gave her the ok to go ahead earlier.

I know there’s different schedules and programs for bcg treatment, so I’m hoping it’s not that big of a deal, as I don’t want her to have to change her personal schedule and feel worried about things.

Anyone have any experience with bcg treatments that aren’t exactly 3 months apart? Or have maybe heard from physicians that it’s fine to change things sometimes to fit a persons personal commitments?

Would really appreciate your feedback. Thank you in advance.
