I live in Portland and if I needed a second opinion I definitely would go to OHSU . My urologist is currently in private practice but did all of his training there . They do have doctors who specialize in bladder cancer . If you do make an appointment for your father to be sure to mention that he has a difficult bladder cancer issue .

Best of luck to you both

second opinion---Portland or Seattle was created by jbsson
My father is a young 90 with no dementia and good health except for recently diagnosed with bladder cancer. He went through one round of BCG but it seems to have been unsuccessful and is 'aggressive.' He lives is southeastern WA as does his urologist. He and we (his children ) would like to get a second opinion on the treatment choices. I live in Portland but would like to know if Seattle might be better place for a second opinion, or if someone can recommend a cancer center or bladder cancer specialist in Portland, OR. Portland would be much more convenient for a second opinion and treatment but that is not our highest priority.

Anyone with experience or an opinion on Portland vs Seattle? Or a recommendation for a specialist in either location, especially given his age?

Thank you sincerely,

Fathers Son
