Blood in Urine

Waiting is a typical thing.
I had gross hematuria for three weeks before I was able to see the urologist.
It was definitely unnerving. But I realized the Docs weren't too concerned, so it seemed normal. Be patient. Think positive even though its hard.

There are more reasons with blood in the urine to NOT be bladder cancer than reasons for! However, you do want to find the cause. It could be stones, UTI, among many other causes and sometimes the cause is not ever found. For starters, yes get an URO's appointment unless you need a referral and keep that. If it is cancer it does not grow that fast and has been there for awhile.. Either way, perhaps the most logical test is using your GP called urine cytology checking for atypical cells and infection, as usually they will see you quick to rule out an infection... meaning you don't even need a URO for that as a first test.

I would advise anyone that has blood in their urine to have their bladder examined by having a cystoscopy done. Blood in urine can be from many things, but I'd want to rule out bladder cancer and you need a cystoscopy to see if there are any tumors in the bladder.

Welcome to the Forum!!

Urinary blood, either microscopic or visible, is a very common symptom. The problem is "what is it a symptom of?"
There are many causes of which bladder cancer is just one possibility. Very often no cause is ever found, and, if a cause is identified it usually is NOT bladder cancer.

You are wise to have it checked out, and even though I will tell you to try not to worry I know that you cannot help it.
Even if is IS bladder cancer (and the odds are that it isn't) a few weeks will not make a difference in a prognosis.

You are doing the right thing.

The causes of bleeding are many and sometimes they are harmless and trivial causes. In some cases, despite the fact that the investigations are being carried out, it is not possible to deal with them and understand the true cause. One thing is certain, if you see the blood in the urine you must in any case first rule out that it is cancer so I advise you to contact a urologist as soon as possible who will have you make all the targeted assessments. But don't put the cart before the horse and don't bind your head before you've broken it. Quiet that everything is treatable and beatable. greetings Ap

Hi, I hope this is an ok place to post. I just had my annual Obgyn appointment and they found blood in my urine when they tested it. I have no other symptoms and am so scared about bladder cancer as I paint furniture and have read that is a risk factor. My problem is that I can't find a urologist to see me for a few weeks, at earliest. Is that very unwise to wait that long? And any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
