Low grade non-invasive bladder cancer is treated exactly the way that your husband is being treated with cystoscopy examinations every three months usually for up to two years. If there has been no reoccurrence at that time the patient is usually scheduled for a cystoscopy every six months until five years have passed with no recurrence. After that the exams are once a year forever. Should there be a recurrence during this time the clock resets and you start all over

It is very important that your husband keep up with those examinations because bladder cancer has a nasty little habit of trying to come back. He will want to be sure that any possible recurrences or caught early .
