Thank you Jack. Its just been a few years with the same symptoms and I am tired of running from one doctor to the other. Hopefully will be resolved soon.

Blood in the urine and bladder spasms can be caused by lots of different conditions. Urine cytology has lots of false results, but is useful for screening test before proceeding with additional evaluation. It appears that your doc feels that the diagnosis explains your symptoms. That is a better diagnosis than bladder cancer.

Hopefully your doc has a plan to address your diagnosis, and resolve the bleeding and spasm issues, and look for other causes if you do not respond to treatment.

As with any medical issue, if results are not obtained, the question of 'Why not' will need to be addressed.

If you are uncomfortable with any aspect of your care, a second opinion is always a reasonable option.

Best,
Jack

Hi

I need some clarification and information. I had several urinary symptoms for years but they were discounted since I was considered to be young for bladder cancer, until things got really bad and there was blood in the urine and spasms etc. They did a cystoscope and urine cytology that suspected bladder cancer, it was followed by a bladder biopsy which came negative for malignancy but positive for eosinophilic cystitis. My urologist did not seem concerned given the biopsy report but I am wondering if I do need a second opinion, or am I overworrying as I have two small children and have had my share or scares before.
