Weight Loss after Radical Cystectomy

11 months 4 weeks ago #56047 by newhippy
I've been recently diagnosed with urethra cancer. Although my bladder is clear, I will still lose it during my radical cystectomy. I've seen several posts about losing weight after surgery due to lack of appetite and nausea. I'm trying to prepare myself, is this the norm? I know after a major surgery you're not going to want to chomp down a large meal, but I'm surprised by how long some say it takes to get their appetite back. Unfortunately, they will not be able to do my surgery laparoscopically so I'll have a large incision. Will this play in to loss of appetite?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
