Ragnasty,

I have no answer for your situation, but I can offer some information on making BCG decisions.

The article linked below describes BCG use in depth. You may recognize your particular situation.

You may want to consider a second opinion if you and your doctor are at odds, or if your current doc has no other options to offer you Ask for a referral to a major cancer center - there is a link on this site to the NCI Designated Cancer Centers.

I hope you can find a course of care that offers hope for success and with which you are comfortable.

Best
Jack

So sorry to hear about your problems with CIS and BCG failure. When BCG works for CIS it is wonderful; when it doesn't, a patient is in a quandry. Sometimes a combination of BCG and interferon is tried, but it is not always successful either. CIS is high grade, meaning that it has the potential to spread relatively rapidly, and so it is not something to fool with.

You are very lucky to be offered a clinical trial with Tecentriq. This is one of the new wave of specialty immune-type drugs that appear to be revolutionizing treatment for some types of cancer. The only other truly viable option is cystectomy (bladder removal.) If I were in your shoes I would welcome the chance to try the clinical trial.

I HAVE HAD THREE BCG TREATMENT ROUNDS. 1st 6 WEEKS (FAILED), 2nd (6 WEEKS) NO CANCER. 4 MONTHS LATER CANCER. 3rd (8 WEEKS) NOT AS MUCH CANCER. AFTER BIOPSY, 5 BIOPSYS TAKEN AND ONLY 1 SHOWED CANCER. I AM BEING ASKED TO DO A CLINICAL TRIAL OF TECENTRIQ. VERY WORRIED ABOUT THAT! DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY TIMES YOU CAN DO BCG? SEEMS LIKE MY DR. WANTS TO REMOVE THE BLADDER, BUT I AM NOT INTERESTED NOW. THE CANCER HAS NOT PROGRESSED ANY SINCE DIAGNOSED IN 2015. CONFUSED!!! ANY HELP OR INFORMATION WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!
