I am bladder cancer free for 9+ years, thanks for asking. There are many of us that frequent these boards as long or longer than me I get me. It is treatable and beatable. My annual cystoscope is next month (I just scheduled it)! Going deep into the muscle is what protocol says to do, to be sure. I'd guess all is well in that department. A lot of times a second is done because the pathologist may write it was "close" or other reasons. The main thing is the tumor has not invaded the muscle, so that is good. As far as BCG, it has been proven thousands of times it is the best course of treatment for your type of bladder cancer. I won't quote stats because all they are is states but, the bigger majority of cases it works eradicating this. Plus, it is so much better than systemic chemo which is brutal. The mytomycin wash is also a normal event after the TURB to kill any reseeding.

Welcome! Your English is better than mine and my typing is terrible (laughing at myself)! Most of us that have had high grade bladder cancer get a second TURB. This is to make sure "margins", meaning clean or no cancer around what is biopsied is clear on cancer. Especially to make sure muscle samples are clear for staging. It does look like your Dad's stage was rated T1 meaning it hasn't invaded the muscle so, IF your urologist is CERTAIN the sample was good you are probably good to go and continuing eradicating this disease. Is it too late to do another TURB? Probably not too late but, I'd raise that question with your URO as none of us are doctors. Keep posting as someone will be here to listen and help.
