Dear Cynthia and All,

One of the oncologists I visited has suggested ureterosigmoidostomy.

Anyone here who has undergone this procedure? Any advise would be valuable! Thanks.

Regards
Akeel.

Hello,

The cystoscopy and TURBT was done today. Doctor says - "Tumor has gone past muscle layer and past the outer wall. could have gone to the pelvic area/lymph / kidney etc." So this is bad news. Could be T3

Will have to wait for the biopsy results to know the stage. The pain has become worst. Even worst is that we don't know the cause. Can anyone solve the mystery. Jack said these are bladder spasms. But my Mom describes it more like child birth pain which I assume should be excruciating and unbearable.

Thanks for your msgs folks!

Regards,
Akeel.

Akeel,

I see that Cynthia has responded, and I agree - bladder spasm is is the cause of most of the pain. That pain and bleeding were my initial signs. My initial doctor considered spasm pain to be minor pain; I had to convince her otherwise. For me the worst of the spasms hit the 10 of 10 on the pain schedule - everyone has a different experience.

The suggestion to see her regular doctor or visit the emergency room for uncontrolled extreme pain is a well worthwhile.

I'm sorry her doctor is not helpful. I do find the heat and massage reduces, but does not eliminate the pain. My current doctor prescribes medications for the pain.

Thanks for being a good son and being there for your mom. My bad assumption with "daughter" sorry.

Best
Jack

Some pain may be experienced after a TURBT but the worst for most is bladder spasm. Excruciating pain is not usually seen. If he is in that sort of pain and his Uro does not seem to feel it is related have you called your family doctor for guidance or gone to the ER? It sounds like everyone would do better here knowing the why. Please let us know what you find out.

Thanks Jack,

I am the son. :)

When we called the doctor he said the excruciating pain could not be due to the tumor.

Now I am worried if there is some other complication? Please advise if pain is expected in this condition?

Daughter,

While the initial diagnosis is bad news, it is not the worst news. Caught early there is a great likelihood of controlling or eliminating bladder cancer; keeping it at bay will be a lifelong chore.

With a lack of other pain control options before the biopsy, heat is an alternative, as is increased fluids so long as urine remains flowing. Moist heat from a microwaved or steamed towel placed over the bladder area can help - massaging the area may also help. A soak in a warm tub may provide relief. Try, see if it helps.
