Tough call on who to follow. Sounded like your 1st URO was OK and the U. of Michigan one is also on top of things. For my $$$ I'd probably stay at vMichigan only becuase they should be seeing more and different issues including bladder cancer with I presume is a larger staff.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

I went to University of Michigan yesterday, I was seen by a urologist who is specialty is overactive bladder, complications of urological procedures and incontinence. I had a cystoscopy done yesterday for the 9th time.
The urologist this time showed me the procedure on the screen. There was a lot of irritation in urinary bladder neck and prostate urethra and also some redness around the biopsy site(mild degree of cystitis).
He told me u have prostatitis like disease and it's likely traumatic. He ordered Flomax for me 0.4 mg at night time. I will follow up with him in 3 months for f/u cystoscopy.
Flomax caused some headache, i had some SOB last night and some runny nose, I took some Advil and the headache is better. Any advise regarding the flomax side effects? He advised me to take it at bedtime for 2 months.
Now I decided to transfer my care to U of M. The procedure yesterday was not painful at all some pressure and I was taking deep breath in and out during the procedure and that helped me. should I continue to follow with this urologist who I trusted and liked or should I see a urologist who is specialized in Urology cancers(urology oncology)?

Thanks for everything

Hi,
Don't feel so worried. I had two small stage 0 tumors removed from.by blatter March 10 and I still have some pain and dribbling. Some of us just take longer to get over it. Yea, it is really a pain in the butt to experience this for so long. Eventually we will get back to normal.

I knpw the U of Michigan has a great reputation for bladder cancer!

Thanks for your response. You are right it my a collective problem from multiple scopes that i had so far and unfortunately I will keep having now every three months again.

I'm going to University of Michigan for a second opinion and I might transfer my care. Honestly didn't feel much pain during the cysto procedures and the last 4 ones has been under local anesthesia, it's the aftermath that I'm dealing with now.

Thanks

Thanks for your response. The pain and burning subsided after 3-4 weeks and I was feeling better but still i have this funny feeling on my penis. 10 days ago The pain started again. Initially the doctor gave me a prescription for Macrobid ABs which didn't seem to help. I also got some uribel(New local anesthetic for urinary tract) it makes me constipated and dizzy without helping the pain that much.

I got some Uricalm Max pills OTC and I will give it a try hopefully it will work

Thanks
