Hello,
I had a TURBT a week ago (7/20/16) to remove a small (< 1cm) papillary growth from my bladder. Prior to the procedure, the doctor told me that my case was pretty simple and that I should be fine to return to work the following Monday (7/25). Aside from suspecting I had an infection over the weekend (a suspicion that was disproven by a negative culture and the fact that I'm on powerful antibiotics), my discomfort has been minimal.
Until yesterday, after work.
I'm a technical writer and my job primarily consists of sitting in a upright position in front of a computer screen. Yesterday evening I was in so much....it's not quite pain...a very deep, dull ache in the general bladder/urethral region that is so intense it's exhausting. Not to be crude, but it feels like I've been violated by an animal about 50 times my size!
Yeah, that was crude, but it's accurate
.
I'm also feeling generally unwell, somewhat flu-like but without a high fever. Perhaps this is how my body responds to injury. I believe I had a similar reaction a week or so after my c-section 13 years ago.
I've got a call in to my uro's office to find out if this is par for at least MY course. The growth ended up being a cystic growth "consistent with cystitis cystica", which is an inflammatory disease of the bladder. So maybe I'm more sensitive to the procedure than those without such a condition.
I'm interested to hear how others recovered from their TURBTs and how soon you returned to work/normal activities afterward. I feel like such a whiny wimp when I read how some of you are in the double-digits with times you've had this procedure and this is just my first, and for a very small growth at that, so there shouldn't have been much scraping.
Thanks for listening.
