Pain was maybe a 2 or 3. Light cramping for a day took maybe one pain pill. Everyone reacts differently and has different pain threshold. With a small tumor it will probably be out all of 20-25 minutes. The pathology report will be key. Either way, I believe you have caught this early is key as they say.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Thanks for your support! Yikes the TURBT sounds worse than I'd thought... but much better than leaving a tumor inside my bladder...

How would you rate the pain 1-10?

My job wouldn't be messed up in ordinary circumstances but I'm currently living in Korea. I want to go home and see my family.

Chances are this will be a non event based on what you have posted. I was in your place 8 years ago with a .5 CM, papillary tumor that did turn out to be high grade. I have been told by my URO that the majority of these types are low grade. The good news is it looks like you have caught this early. Also, you don't want the TURB unless you are under a general anesthetic as he works in there he will be cutting or burning which is also usually nothing.

As far as your job, I doubt much will change because you will likely be back to work the next day and after that probably be put on 3 month cystoscope checks for a year or two, then 6 month intervals graduating to yearly.

Be thankful! Your life will even stronger as a person and more productive knowing you are on your way to beat this!

Well, cystoscopy showed a little mushroom head, 1 cm, hanging out in my bladder. Dr says it's cancer. I have no idea what to do right now. I feel unbelievably happy and lucky to have caught it, really sad because I will probably have to leave my job and my life where I'm currently living and go back to be with my family, really angry because duh, and really scared about the worst case scenario. Luckily, the doctor said that based on what he saw it is probably low grade and we will just do TURBT and then checkups every 3 months. They didn't take it out today (which seems weird to me) but I will do this soon. Can't really know anything until the biopsy comes back, I guess.

Thank you Cynthia, it's comforting to hear that!

My appointment is tomorrow, so here's to hoping it's a birthmark, or a false image, or anything other than cancer... But if it is, I will just have to accept that and fight. And it looks like there is a really supportive group on this forum as well :)

I once went through an incredible tense 24hrs when they found a spot on my liver during a CT scan while going through tests following my bladder cancer dionosis. Turns out I have a birth defect on my liver that I have had all my life. But it took further testing and a sleepless night to find that out. What is showing up on your CT scan could be one of a thousand things such as my liver defect. You are very young to be looking at bladder cancer it is not impossible but would be rare. Let's hope that this is a tempest in a tea cup and that you will never need to join this group the statistics are with you. Keep us updated.
