I know it sounds kinda simple, but having a plan of attack and a good support group around you will give you a real good chance of joining our favorite club...... The cancer FREE club.
It may take a while and it may not be easy, but we are here to listen and help in any way we can. We are not Dr. but we have been in your shoes..... Afraid and wondering which direction to go.

Best of luck
George

Sounds like you have a plan and team. Keep us posted as all of us learn from each other.

Hi Alan and thanks,
I am on Long Island, NY. I have 2 dr.'s for each, the bladder & kidneys. Both are in the North Shore/Long Island Jewish hospital system. Both agreed to have the bladder worked on before the kidneys. And both believe the BCG maintenance is the way to go at this stage for the bladder. The dr for the kidneys is also a robotic surgeon and thats how he will tackle that, as they are growths at this time and not inside the kidney. The $64,000 question for them is how did both happen at the same time at my age. One wanted to know if I was at Ground Zero during 9/11 (I wasn't) and the other suggested I contact the VA because I was in the Navy during the 1st Gulf war.

PDD,

Sorry you have to be here but, glad you found us. While none of us are doctors, you certainly are facing a double whammy. I would suspect your two cancers are related. With two sites you definetely want a team approach. Preferably a large teaching hospital or a group that deals only with these cancers. Meaning a Sloan Kettering, Cleveland Clinic, John Hopkins, MD Anderson etc.

What area of the country do you live? Someone that reads this should be able to help.

Hi, I was diagnosed the 1st week in December. I was referred to a Urologist by my brother when I began to frequently urinate, waking up 2-3 times a night. I was given the physical prostate exam (fine) and had CT to search for possible kidney stones. When that was negative I had a cystoscopy done & the doc found a growth on the lining of the bladder. Went for the biopsy and sure enough it came back as cancer on the lining. Meanwhile the ct's picked up growths on my kidneys, had a MRI and they were cancerous. So I got slapped with a real double whammy. I am about 3 weeks into my BCG treatment. The only good thing to come out of it is both cancers are in the early stage. The real head scratcher for the doc's is I am 45 and they said it is real rare for someone my age to get 2 cancers like this at my age.
