You are right that a neobladder has a "problematic" reputation in women. I hope
that someone with a successful one will chime in, but.....

IF you decide to go that route, be sure that a. you are at a facility and with a surgeon who has done MANY of them and b. ask to speak with several women who have successful neobladders.

Our president, Cynthia, has an Indiana and is very content with it. She has told her story several times in the Forum so try searching for her posts.

Good luck to you. You are doing absolutely the right thing in researching this.

Hi Sparks,

As most of us say, welcome and glad you found us just sorry for the reason to join!

There are several that have had different diversions. As I have not had to have one and I am a male I wouldn't begin to guess your needs. Many have bookmarked a great site describing the basic types with many pros and cons: my.clevelandclinic.org/health/treatments_and_procedures/hic_Urinary_Reconstruction_and_Diversion

Ask away and someone will see this.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Greetings!

I am an active 61 year old woman diagnosed with invasive, high-grade bladder cancer. I have had 4 rounds of Cisplatin and Gemzar at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and am in remission.

My oncologist suggested that I join this community.

Now it is time for plucking the bladder! I have read hundreds of posts on this forum. (THANK GOODNESS this forum family is so generous with their experiences.)

The neo is very appealing, but as I understand it, women tend to develop a prolapsed bladder especially if they have had their "equipment" removed. Any women out there who can share what they know about the LATEST REAL story of the neo bladder and what it takes to learn to use it without prolapsing?

HELP!!!!
