That news is worth a happy dance around here. This gives you time before your next recheck to find a Urologist you can deal with. The important thing is to ALWAYS do your recheck like clockwork.

Uro called just now and said he got results. Said it is cancer, but low grade, non-invasive.....monitor every 3 mos. No treatment in between. I am still going in tomorrow for him to explain everything and will look for second opinion as well.

J.D. while I am originally from Indiana a long time ago, I do know some of the Indianapolis/IU med center departments are good but, which ones I can only guess at. I would definetely aim for a group department that has a high if not all bladder cancer practice. Too many see mostly prostatic and that is no good in fighting this disease. I don't remember who from our posting group but, someone has used the IU med group and I believe they had a good experience.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

JD,

I am glad that you are looking for a new urologist. No one deserves the treatment you and your wife were given. I do want you to have hope. Doug was diagnosed in 2001 at at the age of 44 and is doing well. He still sees the urologist every 6 months for a scope -- very important to keep those appointments. Please let us know how your appointment goes and best wishes on finding a new urologist. Give your wife a hug from me. I know how she feels.

Here is a link to our treatment finder it is of course not complete but it does have the major ones we know of. The ones listed have a designated bladder cancer program and volume is the name of the game when looking for a bladder cancer specialist. Many local Urologists do a general practice and see much more prostrate than bladder cancer.
