So I feel like the hospital is holding my cancer hostage. I do not have health insurance and have paid for my CT scan ($395) and my cycstoscopy ($300). My urologist says he will only charge me $650 for the Turb and the hospital says it will be 20K! I am trying to qualify for some financial aid and they are having me jumping through hoops and the hoops keep changing. I am going out of my mind. I am supposed to have the turb on Tuesday but I doubt that will happen now. I went for PAT on Friday while my Mom was in the ER because we thought she had a stroke (she did not) and they cancelled my appointment because I was self pay and they had not approved me. The business office cannot wrap their head around the fact that I am gifted 14K a year to care for my Mom, who is stage 6 of Alzheimer's / Dementia. I guess I will have to put off my Turb until I can find somewhere to have it done reasonably. The hospital actually told me to find a stand alone surgery center that does not have the overhead that they do.

Sometimes you have to be your own advocate! Everyone is here to try and answer questions as they arise. The good news is you are own your way to beating this!

I am waiting for the scheduler to call me this afternoon for the surgery. So glad I found this forum weeks ago when I was self diagnosing. Turns out I was right.

Not that I am happy to see you here, but I AM glad that you got a diagnosis and the uncertainty is gone. And yes, glad that the cystoscopy was no big deal...you are going to be very familiar with this procedure over the next few years!

And no, they do not usually do a biopsy during a cystoscopy..OUCH!! Are you scheduled for a TURB where he will remove the tumor and surrounding tissue to be sent for pathology?

Wishing you the very best
