Benign or Cancerous tumor, Do you get BCG for both

3 years 11 months ago #48029 by Jay
This morning I get a call that all my future BCG treatments are cancelled until they can get more. I was told it would probably be at the end of the month? Has anyone else been cancelled? I only had one treatment on Jan. 5th.

I was told what you are experiencing means the BCG is working. My father went through the BCG and felt very little discomfort. The BCG did not work for him but I know of someone who went through it and it was successful. Everyone is different so don't give up and stay positive.

Thanks, I have been reading the other delay posts. Hoping the burning might mellow out some. Does it always return during the treatment?

Jay, as you will read in many posts on the Forum, a shortage of BCG has been around since last year. It appears the the provider, Merck, is now shipping but due to the demand has about a 4 week back-order problem.

A couple of weeks delay will not affect your progress. Many times, due to the irritative effects of the BCG, or to a UTI, the treatment has to be delayed. Several times during my treatment we had to put it off for several weeks so that my bladder could "calm down."

This will give you an opportunity to heal a bit before the next treatment.

I was suppose to get my second of six treatments this morning and got a call from the UR that they are out of the BCG, a nationwide shortage. They don't know when anymore will come in? How does this effect my treatment, probably depends when the BCG finally comes in? I'm expecting maybe some of the burning will subside not getting another treatment at the 7 day interval?

What's up with this, all I have to do is get up from a chair and have to go, even if its only been 15/20 minutes?
