Until your doctor takes a look and if need be your pathology reports come back you will not know what you are dealing with. This is what I do know, I am ten years out of being diognoised with invasive bladder cancer. There are no promises but the fact is that for the biggest majority with proper treatment survive bladder cancer. It is not easy but it is possible to come out the other side and live a full life. Let's cross out fingers and hope you have something simple to fix but if not know that we are here if you need us.

Thank you for your response. If you don't mind me asking, how long did your diagnosis take? I feel like I've been doing this since spring of 2012!

I am wondering about your ct scan. If it's normal then it should be good. No masses. Hopefully there is no cancer. Best wishes to you.

I know how scary this is. I was diagnosed a month ago - and I have found this forum to be enormously helpful.

Let us know how it all goes!

Hi Niklas,
Thank you for your response, and congratulations on your recovery.
Besides the blood in the urine I am also bleeding from the rectum. This is also spontaneous and not associated with constipation. It just happens. I am having a colonoscopy on the 9th.
As far as other symptoms I have painful urination, frequency, and 'dribbling' - mostly noticed when I wake up. I am now having some pain in the back, on the left side. Stones have been ruled out. I don't have an appetite and would probably weigh less if I wasn't forcing myself to eat.
My brother had cancer of the kidneys. He passed some years ago. It was well established before he became aware of it.
I have had bladder problems for as long as I can remember, about 4 yeas. I was told I had interstitial cystitis but now I am told that it's a catch-all diagnosis.
I also have pain. Any pressure, sitting, standing, bending, all put pressure on the perennial floor. It's very tender down there. Most recently, UTI ruled out. Last week I couldn't move for the pain. Heat helped.
This is all speculation I know. I just heard that they are moving the cystoscopy up. I'll post the findings. I've done some research - who hasn't - and I seem to have about all the symptoms. I should just wait and see. I am also waiting for cytology results to come back.
Thanks again

Hi,
I am sorry about your situation and I am hoping the docs soon will finding a cause of the bleeding. Blood in urine should always be checked up. It could be a kidney infection, a bladder or kidney stone, an UTI, an enlarged prostate, one of some Kidney diseases, other things, or bladder cancer. You can´t really tell from the amount of blood how likely it is that it is cancer. Blood clotting is not an indication of cancer. If you bleed, you always also have blood clotting. An increase in bleeding and clotting is not a further indication of cancer and even IF it is cancer, it does not tell you anything about the type of cancer.

Most of times, bladder tumors shows up on a CT scan. It is a god thing that you soon will have a cystoscopy. That is the best examination of the bladder you can have.

Do you have any other symptoms beside bleeding?

I do understand that you are scared. But please try to stay calm. I was in your situation two years ago. For me it turned out to be bladder cancer, but low grade. After minor surgery and treatment I am know since one year cancer free.
