Just diagnosed with BC and a bit confused

Carl,

Many studies but, I am sure not all indicate the 2 year mark is significant as well as 5. Not to alarm anyone but, there are a few on this board free 7-8 years and have a new reoccurrence. I have learned take each day and each year as a new beginning and try to enjoy both.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Thanks for your input and well wishes, I'm really glad to see that you are doing well these days.

Yeah, getting regular cysto's are not fun, but I can allow it to be part of my life if I can stay BC free. From what I understand the longer you go without it returning the less likely it will return... Have you had any input to this being a true statement or not?... I realize nothing is guaranteed in life, but it would make things a lot easier as one moves on if it is true.

Thanks again and good luck to you.

Hi Carl
Sorry you had to join this great group ,but you will find them a great bunch who are so supportive.
My story is very similar to yours, I was diagnosed with a low grade tumour 2 years ago at the age of 47 . Had always been very healthy but started to observe small amounts of blood when passing water. Had to have a number of visits to my local doctor before being sent for specialist investigations.
last week I had my 6th check up and no sign of the cancer returning.
Check ups now just part of life and it's very little hassle to remain tumour free.
For me this has made me a much stronger person and I look forward to everything the future brings.
Life is for living , so keep strong
All the best

Thanks for your input. You can bet I will take your advice and keep a close eye on this matter. I hope if I do it will never progress to anything more than a big pain in the you know where!

Thanks again and I hoped you are doing well these days.

Sincerely
Carl

Carl, Glad you made it on and glad also that you are getting support and information. This really throws a scare into you no matter the grade or stage that is for sure.

Listen when you are told to keep a close eye that is the key here. The odds tell us that non invasive bladder cancer has a high chance of coming back, but for some it does not. But the most important thing with low grade non invasive is making sure that you catch it early, make sure it is still low grade and deal with it. The good news for low grade is that for most it will stay low grade if it does recur. If you doctor tells you to show up show up.
