I didn't have a problem with the BCG but every cystoscope caused a nasty infection to where now my URO prescribes a couple of doses (can't remember what) after the scope. The urinalysis done before the BCG should tell whether taking it is OK on any infection and they will usually put it off. I have had two hernia surgeries and was always checked but, I think that was just a blood test. I'd certainly have your ortho check with an I expert in factious diseases to be safe. It is just good medicine.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

This is my only my second message on the site but it is so helpful . Prior to my husband being diagnosed with CIS he scheduled hip replacement surgery . We postponed it until he finished his first round of BCG treatments . He joked that the BCG was no problem because his hip was sp painful :)
My question is have any of you had orthopedic surgery while being treated for bladder cancer ? If so did you run into any infection issues ie : bladder infection etc

Thanks so much
