Hi Joyce... Getting a clean cystoscopy is definitely GOOD news so you have cleared one hurdle. It sounds like he was thorough in that he has scheduled the additional tests. I hope you can take Sara Anne's advice and take a very deep breath and enjoy your weekend and give yourself a few days off from so much worry.

Thanks for letting us know about your appointment today... way to go at getting your cysto done! We will continue to hope for news just as good in a couple of weeks.

Best wishes... Catherine

Joyce, that IS good news, indeed. The uro did not SEE any obvious signs of cancer in the bladder. The CT-urogram will show the upper tract into the kidneys which he could not see with the cystoscopy. This then will give a pretty good idea of what is going on, or NOT going on, in the upper parts of your urinary tract.

I would not say you got the bum's rush....he DID do the cystoscopy instead of making you wait two weeks!!! And you have some good news, even if it is not the final word, rather than really worrying for two weeks!!!

Let us know what happens and ENJOY THE WEEKEND!!

Hello Theresa! Thank you for the good thoughts and great tip. If I could please tap your expertise, I was wondering if you could give me your opinion. I just got back from my appointment and I don't know what to think at this point. Since the appointment was end of day, I think I may have gotten the bum's rush. They tested my urine, which still tested positive for blood. The doctor basically just took my history and after about five minutes told me he was going to order a ct urogram, 3D rendering, and have me come back for a cystoscopy (spelling?) in two weeks. I asked him if he could do it now, and after some hemming and hawing, he agreed to ask people to stay late so he could do the procedure. He said that it looked clear and that is "half good news" and he would have to wait for the results of the ct scan to know about the "upper". I guess my question is, how accurate is the cystoscope and is it good news that he didn't see anything? Also, what does the CT urogram show? I don't know if I received good news or what! Sorry for the long question, but I'm sure I will think of more! THANK YOU! Joyce

Hi Joyce,

I'm thinking and praying for you as you go for your appointment tomorrow. Keep us posted.

One thing I might mention that I always do that I have found helpful, is that I always record the appointment on my cell phone. (Many cell phones have a "voice record" mode.) My first app't I just asked the Dr. if he minded--now he waits for me to be ready! I find it helpful in case there is something I didn't remember exactly. My husband is always with me too, but it's interesting how we sometimes "hear" things differently--so I have it all recorded for further reference.

(((Hugs))),
Teresa

By the way, I'll post again when/if I find out anything. I'll probably have lots of questions after my appointment.

Hi Catherine! Thank you for the good thoughts! I am so nervous I am actually shaking! My appointment is 3:45 tomorrow and I don't know what to expect. I have a feeling that I won't know anything more after the appointment than I do now. Since it's only a consult, I am pretty sure that no tests will be done to make any determination, so I guess I will probably have more waiting to do.
Thanks, again!
Joyce
