Fine if you want to have CCA as friend. It's great they helped you feel better about things. Just don't have them treat your bladder cancer. It is more important to get rid of the cancer than feel good about the cancer.

You can do research on them and find out more that will support what we're saying or you can just move on to getting a top notch bladder cancer doc on the case. My suggestion is the latter.

Whatever your decision, a second TURB is the gold standard for bladder cancer diagnosis. Several studies have demonstrated that this cancer is significantly under-diagnosed when only one TURB is done. In my case,
the first showed only papillary tumor, but when my urologist repeated the procedure, taking special attention to other areas of the bladder, the diagnosis included CIS. If this had been missed, I could have been in real trouble, real soon!

Wow! I researched Dr. Lamm. He certainly seems to have all of the experience and credentials for this. So, would I be better off to visit with him before my second TURBT? Maybe I don't need a second one. My urologist at CTCA said he was surprised the cowardly urologist did not order a second one. I have an opportunity to switch as the second TURBT isn't until August 17.

Still conflicted, but all of your words have given me pause. Yes, I want the best I can get. If he is the one, I want to jump ship again. I prefer to keep this ship sailing versus going down with it.

Please help!

Remember, Scot. You are the captain of this ship. CCA is a for profit chain, There are reviews if you Google them. Their write-up in Wikipedia has been flagged as an advertisement.

I must stress that my thoughts here are my opinion and not the official view of the American Bladder Cancer Society. But, as a former medical school faculty member and medical researcher, I am always very careful to check out the qualifications of those who treat me. I want someone with SPECIFIC EXPERTISE in the condition being treated. Someone who sees many, many cases like mine.

BUT..you are the captain, I am not even on your ship!!

It is wonderful that your stepdaughter is coming. I just returned from my step grandaughter's wedding! Precious times.

Thanks, George. Sometimes the obvious is not so obvious. I will do as you suggest and be honest. It's always worked for me in the past, so might as well not depart from success.

It is always best to bring in the family. And to be as honest with them as possible.
Admit that you are scared............ It is normal and will break some of the tension becasue everybody is scared. And afraid to show it.
Admit you are somewhat consfused.... Same as above

And most of all........... Thank them sincerely for their concern. With 3 great minds working toward your recovery.... It will happen.
50% of getting over cancer is mental attitude and teamwork.

I know it is very scarey. But we are here for you and you WILL get through this. Soon you will be here giving this same advice as a "survivor"

Welcome

George
