09z,

The biggest thing for now is not to panic. Once you get a handle on this you’ll need to become your own patient advocate and push for answers. Also, with this cancer, get second opinions. If it is T2, it can be very treatable. Your doc should have told you what grade the cancer is along with it being invasive T2.

If you have any questions or need opinions concerning doctors or hospitals, ask. Pat can give you information on all the experts and where to find it. All of us here have been through this. Just don’t panic.

09z,
do NOT let this uro touch you again. You must have this re-done by an experienced bladder cancer surgeon. If you tell us where you are located we'll find you someone. AND this should be done in the next couple of weeks as what he left is just going to seed and get worse.

09z,

T2 means that the tumor has invaded into the muscle. If the doctor said he didn't get it all, that may mean he did not get a full margin (cancer free tissue all the way around the tumor).

So it could mean that you are T2 or it could be higher.

Regardless, both of these are indicators that you should now get to a top bladder cancer specialist at one of the top hospitals for bladder cancer. Let us know where you are located and we may be able to recommend a top doctor near you.

Here is information on what the T stages mean. cancerhelp.cancerresearchuk.org/type/bladder-cancer/treatment/bladder-cancer-stage-and-grade

If you are already T2, it almost doesn't matter if it is high grade or low grade because if it is in the muscle, the likely next step is bladder removal. This is called cystectomy.

Are you male or female? That can make a difference regarding what bladder replacement option would be best. It all depends on what else they find when they do the follow up scans and once they get in there and see what they have to work with.

Here is flowchart I put together on bladder cancer treatment that is in layman's terms. It lists the process and where to go to get what done. You are DEFINITELY at the point of getting to a 2nd opinion doctor who specializes in bladder cancer. bladdercancersupport.org/images/Bladder%20Cancer%20Treatment%20Guide%20v4.pdf

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Many of us have been in your shoes. I got my neobladder over two and half years ago and I'm doing fine. You need to get copies of your lab reports (pathology). You can get this by going to the hospital where your TURBT was done (call ahead) and signing for it. You will also want to get your slides (the slides with the tissue that the pathologist looked at).
Your doctor should know everything you need for getting a 2nd opinion. If he doesn't help in the process then you can do it all yourself.

No question is a dumb question so feel free to ask and we'll do our best to answer.
