Thanks everyone for the well wishes, and con tinued support. I do have one question, since my report came back as stated, the doctor did not see any reason for BCG treatments....just cystos and more laser if there is anything that shows up.....does this sound reasonable or should I really be asking for BCG?

alanlee

2/2011: diagnosed with non invasive Type1 stage1...and had turbt in march....first follow up 5/19/11, had laser again as it re-occurred.
10/12/2011 TURPT with more bladder laser....still non invasive..

AlanLee--

That is indeed great news. I remember when I got the same news, so know how you feel. I'm sure you know bladder cancer does have a high chance of recurrence, which is why we need 3-month checkups the first couple of years. And, if you do have a recurrence, odds are it will be the same grade and type.

Ann

Small TA Grade 1, May-06; recur (2 tiny), same, June-08; TURBTs both times. BCG begun July-08, dosage to 1/3rd May-10, completed treatment December-11. All clear since 2008.

Alanlee,

That's GREAT NEWS!!!!

Glad you are getting the prostate issue taken care of. I have a theory (no studies have been done on it yet though) that urinary retention (lack of fully emptying) increases the risk of bladder cancer.

Enlarged prostate often causes retention, which is why we have go the bathroom so frequently when dealing with enlarged prostate. Once they fix that for you, it should help with frequency issues and resolve the retention issue.

Not that it will really make a difference at this point with regard to bladder cancer, but it can't hurt. :)

Congrats!
