Mike, you have a good point regarding not emptying bladder totally may contribute to BC. It makes sense if you have exposure to stuff that can cause BC or if you are a smoker and the bad chemicals stay in your bladder a longer time. Good thought. Wonder if someone has done a study on that issue or not.

BCG does not work as well on low-grade papillary cancer, so it is not generally recommended when you have a first occurrence of that type. However, if you have a recurrence (as I did, after 2 years) BCG is often recommended at that point as it may slow down the rate of recurrence.

Ann

Small TA Grade 1, May-06; recur (2 tiny), same, June-08; TURBTs both times. BCG begun July-08, dosage to 1/3rd May-10, completed treatment December-11. All clear since 2008.

Alanlee,

Since it was low grade and no CIS, I wouldn't be asking for BCG. If there are recurrences, then another plan of attack may be in order but, for now, 'watchful waiting' with the regular follow up schedule is a reasonable treatment plan.

All the best!
