Hopefully, the information is helpful to you and it sounds to me like you are on the right track.
Based on what you read me from the pathology report, there wasn't muscle in the pathology sample so they don't really know if it is in the muscle yet or not. You should probably call the doctor back to confirm what I'm saying. I think he (the doctor that did the biopsy) meant that he thought he got a sample that had good margins that went into the muscle. However, according to the pathology report, there was no muscle present to analyze (which means the doctor didn't actually go deep enough when he took the sample). This is not uncommon and is one of the major reasons why bladder cancer is so often under-staged.
The other thing that I am not clear on is if it was the 2nd opinion doctor that did the 2nd TURBT (biopsy) or if it was the original urologist who did both.
