Hi Flo,

I'm also in the camp that go lytely and half lytely nauseate. I have never been able to completely finish the prep, but things turned out good enough for colonoscopy and fortunately the rc went well too. Wish I had a trick that made that oily junk more palatable, but I never have found it. I'm hoping that for my next colonoscopy I can talk them into a different prep (mag citrate or castor oil). Hope all goes well,

jj

Flo..i just held my breath while taking big gulps of the golytely and rested a few minutes or more until i could get the courage to do it again. i actually got it all down and never got off of the toilet until i had to go to the hospital..and i'm tiny...who would have thought i was so full of ..well you know!! Refrain from saying anything George..i know you want to!!!
I actually had a worse time when i had my colonoscopy as they used the mag citrate and said to drink it with gatoraide...do you have any idea how much suger is in that!!!!!!!...i started shaking like a leaf from all that sugar and they gave me 2mg of Ativan to calm me down. That also helps with nausea...so if you need something have them call it in.
Good luck Flo...you've got a great doc and you'll do just fine.

Flo, I'm so sorry you're having such a tough time with your prep. You have the same regimen they gave me. That HalfLytely is the nastiest stuff I have ever tasted, way worse than what I used for colonoscopy prep. To be honest, I could not finish the last 12 or so ounces because like you, I was on the verge of getting sick. I figured since I was a small person and had eaten sparsely the previous day, it would clean me out sufficiently. It was somewhat slow acting but finally kicked in. Hugs to you...

Best wishes... Catherine

Could be the antibiotics...

I found this instruction for halflytel:

I don't know how much you are supposed to drink but based on what it says, it could be you just need to slow it down a bit.

Good luck!
