I will watch Patton every time it is on.

My favorite scene is when there is a group that had just toured Patton's quarters. One of them said, "General,I noticed a bible on the table next to your bed. Do you read it?"
Patton looks him square in the eye and says "Every God Damn day!"

I Howl each time.

George, have you been watching that 40's movie channel again. invoking Bogey and Bacall, whistling, and zyphers in rapid succession are tell tale signs! But, as Patricia would say - "You need to get a second opinion" just to be sure that permanent reversion to the "good ole days" isn't lurking around the corner. :P

It is interesting to me that cancer patients bond immediately at a very personal level and never have a "I had it worse attitude."

I find that most cancer survivors have a very good "I'll beat this" attitude. Even if they are stage IV. For those of us who have good reports every 3 or 6 months, we always have this little niggling in our minds of "Is there something else out there?" But, to get through our daily lives, we keep a positive attitude and keep on going. If your father suffers form a little depression he will find no more positive group than a group of cancer survivors.

We all know that evil lurks our there in cancer land. We are ready for the fight, but we are not going to let it get the best of us.

Find that group or start one. I found that there are so many cancer survivors out there that have kept their stories quiet, but are so willing to share their stories and advice.
You will have NO problem getting a group together. Just whistle..... "You know how to whistle don't you? Sure, You just pucker up and blow" Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.

Lindsey,

Some people do better in a group setting. If you are interested in starting a group in your area please call or email our office by clicking contact us in the main menu and we would be happy to help you do so.

Or you might suggest a mixed group you will find one in most areas. It would not be specific to bladder cancer but many of the emotions and situations we experience are the same.

Thanks for your reply George. I agree that this site is very helpful. My father does not have a computer and doesn't really like to use them. I thought a face to face would be a great option for him along with caregivers.
