Thank you, Rolin for your advise. We are all set for Rochester and he feels he has a great match in his doctor. I am glad about this and just wanted the best for him! He goes in this Tuesday for surgery, keep him in your prayers.
God Bless,
Joy

Joy, I have some experience getting treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

The Mayo Clinic is impressive. It's organized, polished, and for the most part very professional. Their image is top notch, isn't it. That's where it stopped for me.

I simply did't like the doctor I had there. (I'll call him Dr Not for me) Not just a little bit either - Dr NFM would have been a terrible pick as far as I'm concerned and I was told he was one of their top BC specialists. I really think my treatment and outcome would be at risk if I continued with Dr NFM.

I chose Dr Konety at the U of M and am happy I did. I know a major cancer center like the Rochester Mayo sounds like the best of the best. And they are in some of their departments. But Bladder Cancer isn't their best offering as far as I'm concerned. The U of M is also regarded as a top notch cancer center. It's not as polished as the Mayo, but it feels more "real" to me when it comes to my care. Dr Konety seems to have a passion for Bladder cancer research and treatment.

I am fairly new to Mayo (surgery in Jan and TURBT last week). I am seeing Dr Chow. They use a team approach so you get more than just the main doc. So far so good for me but until I get an all clear I have to say it has not been fun. Good luck to your family.

Thank you so much, guys! I have passed these two names on to my father in law and he is going to Mayo on the 24th for his consultation. I told him about these two doctors and told him about Igor Frank.
Patricia-keep giving us your knowledge. I have been reading all of your posts from the past and you have so much wonderful information. I really appreciate you and all you are doing for bladder cancer patients and their families on this website. THANK YOU!!!

Joye...like i said before...O'Donnell at the u. of Iowa and Dr. Konety at the U.of Minnesota...both highly regarded bladder cancer specialists. Mayo is good at a lot of things...but i rank these 2 doctors way above any at Mayo in the bladder cancer department.

Why not a second opinion from Dr. Michael O'Donnell at the Univ of Iowa? He is one of the experts in bladder cancer and is close by.
