I guess you can say it is a second opinion. I have mild micro hematuria. Urine cytology is negative, renal ultrasound is negative. Had a cysto done by a uro on the best dr's in America list by C&C who works in a hospital ranked highly for urology by US World News & Reports. Uro told me the bladder was inflamned and did a biopsy. The cysto report refers to hyperemia lessions (i.e.,bloody lessions). There is no result from the biopsy because the tissue was "too small" to survive processing. The uro said don't worry come back in a year or when you have symtoms. However, I feel that if whatever the uro saw was worth doing the biopsy in the 1st place, shouldn't I get an answer? This is what made me do further research and come up with Harry Herr. I told Herr's assistant my story. Herr agreed to see me and do a cysto at my first appointment. I am actually surprised that he is willing to see me because he usually take people who have been diagnosed. Even more surprised that he will do a cysto day 1. I tend to get quite scared when it comes to disease. I am really trying to gain closure or nip it in the bud. Of course my mind goes to worse case.

Sure have. Dr. Harry Herr saved my life 8l/2 yrs ago when i went to him for a second opinion on a T2 with CIS invasive tumor. He immediately scheduled me for a re-turb as my path slides were not acceceptable. He was able to remove all of the tumor and existing positive margins the local surgeon left behind. Dr. Benson at Columbia very good but not the multidisciplinary team that MSK has.
Dr. Kaplan also very good at Weill Cornell
Its your choice but MSK has such a great team of bladder cancer specialists. They see more than anyone else in NYC.
Dr. Herr not big on chit chat..gets right to the point but he knows what he is doing. He's in surgery 4 days a week and 1 day to see patients...and usually a lot of patients.
