Kathleen...you haven't been listening...on all the other posts you were given good information about who to see....as far as bladder cancer is concerned you are in the boondocks...Get out of Dodge and get to Huntsman.
Your husband does not need a PET scan.......noone gets a PET scan prior to a TURB.

Mike I agree with what you stated. Having witnessed the uncorperative nature between my local Uro and my cancer center ongologist left me the rather unpleasent job of ensuring both recieved the reports from the other.

Perhaps what bothers me the most is I in essense hired both of them. At least I think so based on the stack of bills I've paid.

When the chips were down and I finaly surrendered to the pain it was the local uro and his surgeon that preformed the emergency RC. My ongologist was in Houston for meetings.

This might be a good thing, in a way....

Some people like their uro so much that they refuse to get to a top cancer center and then they wind up with major issues or worse. Since his uro is like this, it makes it easy to get where he needs to be to get the proper treatment.

Thing is, you still need to find a good uro locally though in addition to having him go to a major cancer center.

The uro was clearly wrong in the way he handled things and the person who took the message was clearly wrong in how it was taken.

The Ego is a big issue in the health care arena. If you have bad feelings about your uro you need to get to a cancer center anyway. So you can easily say SEEEEEEEEEYa. Move on to a bladder cancer specialist and don't look back. You have to take ALL of your husbands health issues into consideration.

I am always surprised by the different reactions given by Dr. Some welcome a second opinion; even demand it. Others view a second opinion as an attack on their abilities.
I had a Dr. that went out and got 3 second opinions on his own to be sure of where to go with me ( I left the door open for some busting there, didn't I?) Even after 800 Radical Systectomies he felt the need for a second.
This is the kind of care you deserve.
