Hi, you should definately see a Urologist. I also had a sonogram that did not show anything. It was not until the cysto and Cat scan that was done showed what turned out to be a superficial tumor.

Blood in the urine is a symptom of bladder cancer but it can also be caused by a number of other things.

The feelings you describe with urination sound more like prostate issues. Many of us men have also had prostate issues that are unrelated to bladder cancer.

The foamy business could be kidney infection, could be urethral issue of some sort, could be alcohol, diet or a host of other things.

The back/side pain could be kidney stones or other things with the kidneys.

The combination you describe does not sound like bladder cancer but in any/all of the scenerios the medical specialty that can sort through the symptoms and do the right tests to figure it out is Urology.

You should probably get a cystoscopic exam so the urologist can see in the bladder to look for problems, tumors, irritation, etc.

All I'm trying to say is that you may not want to assume bladder cancer in your case. You certainly don't want to ignore it but it is probably something else and a urologist is the person to tell you what exactly it is.

Best of luck!

The first thing to do is take a deep breath and calm down. Mike's advice to see a urologist is absolutly correct. From the laymans look at this, try NOT to let Web MD diagnose what ails you. This area is still one for the pro.
Two weeks ago, a friend of mine had a sinus infection. he went to the doctor and his wife, (after researching on the web) asked the doctor, "If he has cancer or a brain tumor, I want to know!"
The doctor was very cool, he said, "no cancer, or brain tumor, Oh, and by the way, I have ruled out bubonic plague too."
Fear and Panic are self destructive. Let the pro's make a real diagnosis.

Rickles,

Could be a lot of different things. Don't wait for ultrasound results to get to a urologist.
I certainly would not conclude bladder cancer from your post but a urologist is the way to go right now.

They can rule things in and out.

Im a 32 year old male. I have had a funny feeling after urinating for the last few months. A sensitive feel in my penis with a slight feel like i have to urinate more. Kind of a pressure feel. I also had some back and side pain on and off. My urine also has a foamy look to it the last month. Just last week I went to my doctor who found small traces of blood in urine. No infection when the culture of the urine was done. I did an ultra sound on Thursday and they are still looking that over. the woman who gave me the ultra sound said she didn't see anything unusual. . Anyway does that sound like typical bladder cancer symptons or something else? Im really freaked out by this. Any thoughts on what this could be? My doctor said i should see a urologist if the ultra sound doesnt show anything. When I went in August they thought it was Prostatis.
