I do see your reasoning. If you didn't have a CT pre surgery did they visulaize the CIS via cystoscopy?

Mr C had a CT which showed the mass, than a Cystoscopy and then the TURBT.

Last week status post 6 days TURBT he was having extreme pain and the CT showed a mass in the bladder. The mass was a tennis ball sized blood clot.

Great question to ask your doc. :)

Hi,

I had my TUR on Oct 31, 2006. Dx was CIS (3cm) and no invasive.
Then the doctor scheduled a CT scan for me on Nov 15th. The scan showed an area that MIGHT be swelling from surgery or might be a tumor mass in the bladder wall very near where my TUR was.

Now I have to get another CT scan Dec 18th to see if it gets smaller (would indicate that it was only swelling) or not (would indicate its probably a tumor and we need to do another TUR).

Based on this, I would suggest that if you wind up going straight to TUR, ask to get a CT scan FIRST.

We wouldn't have this confusion right now and this delay in finding out "Did they get it all" had the scan preceded the TUR.

Of course, we didn't know for SURE if I had cancer in the first place until after the TUR, but I think my urologist was PRETTY sure it was.
