Early menopause and Bladder Cancer...

Well, I wish I could make this or anything else fit into a profile.

I went through menopause simultaneously with my Dx at the age of 53...not exactly early menopause....

(Forging on to find an answer);)

ok..granted i read this in Womans Day.......but it said studies show two phytochemicals in the bloom hydrangea...quercetin and rutin kill bacteria in the bladder and kidneys and prevent them from returning...there is a hydrangea tea...called Kidney/Bladder tea ($l5 from blessedherbs.com)...Honest i'm not selling this and i'm always leary of herbs anyway...well sorta....but wouldn't that be a nice fix instead of expensive antibiotics?....If you think its a scam yell at Womans Day..........Pat
Additionally i just read this about hormones and blc
www.cancerpage.com/news/article.asp?id=9371
and that frequent UTI's may be a factor

IMHO you should call the URO if get recurrent UTI. It's not always a UTI.
I thought I was having UTIs but it wasn't.

Rosemary.....I think it is menopause too because it feels like it burns from the outside in. I will try the Estrace one of my doctors suggested awhile ago when I was getting too many UTI's and since I self diagnosed them and took nitrofluratoin (have had a big precription of these) maybe they were'nt UTI's like this one. I just get so scared since this whole bladder cancer thing is so new with me so whenever I get any symptoms at all I get very concerned. Thanks so much for your response it was so helpful. I have felt so much better the last two days. If it acts up again I may call the URO. I just had my cysto the last of June and my next appointment is Sept 21. Since I was all clear last June (just some scar tissue from the 3 recent turb's) maybe I am okay to wait until the Sept appointment.

Thanks again....glad I found this site.

Katie,

Yes. I have the burning like that too. I have about 3 guesses as to what it could be (since like you, no one can tell me what's going on.)

1. Allergy to the toilet paper

2. Menopause (just as you said, thinning, dryness, yada yada)

3. Yeast infection

My best guess is #2, MENOPAUSE:woohoo:

Once I asked my gyno what the little red prickly spots were on my stomach and he said "There's a word for that. It's called O-L-D!"

 I love my gyno....

Glad there was no blood in your urine. I like the photo by the way.

Take care,
Ro

Katie, as you could see from my previous post, I have "been there, done that." My symptoms were apparently from CIS. They cleared up after the BCG treatments. My uro prescribed Urelle for me, and it did help. It dyes EVERYTHING blue(since it is really methylene blue dye.) Worked much better for me than the (cheaper) orange pill whose name I forget. When this whole thing started, before the diagnosis of bladder cancer, they did recommend Estrace, but it doesnt' seem to do anything.

Good luck, and keep up the pressure on the Uro to DO SOMETHING!
