Yikes! That must mean you have a BCG infection...in which case you're very lucky to be doing as well as you seem to be! I hope you stay well, and clear too!

Got the results of the biopsies, no malignancy!!!! But do have cystitis which may be why I am feeling crummy. Infectious disease doctor gave me 2 week course of prednisone and 6 months on Iozionide, yesterday. I am waiting to talk to my urologist today to start on these meds.

Hi Archrock,

Sometimes people who react badly to BCG are offered BCG (low dose) plus Interferon. It is very effective and less toxic. More expensive though, so not usually given unless BCG causes reactions and your insurance will pay for the newer combination. Worth asking, perhaps. More info here:
blcwebcafe.org/interferon.asp

Regular old BCG can also be lowered in dose without losing effectiveness. Discuss this with your doctor too (and more info on WebCafe's BCG page).

Had the biopsies, waiting for results. My doc said that it all looked great, could see no tumors and he didn't put in any chemo. I will find out about biopsies on Tuesday. He told me that I may have BCG once a month for 3 months followed by another cysto, with this pattern for the first year. Depending on biopsies will determine need for cysto in hospital. I left feeling okay, despite still getting cyclically ill with sore eyes and nauseus feeling every few days.

I am getting followup with infectious disease doctor on Wednesday to see if I reacted badly to BCG.
