Dr. Kamat is highly regarded! MD Anderson is my backup should I ever need them and have had two other friends use him. Both love the guy!

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Thank you Cynthia. Our surgery discussion has been tabled until treatment wraps up but I don't remember him mentioning the pouch. I'm currently seeing Dr Kamat, It sounds like he maybe be one of the best in his field so I'll comfortable staying with him. He's done a great job so far just want to be sure I'm making the right procedure decision. I was matched with a cancare volunteer today, she was incredible and has the pouch as well. I guess I'll need to call in to discuss my options. Thank You again Cynthia!

Nudawn sorry you have to be here but welcome to our community. I am a T2 ten year survivor. You are very lucky to have landed where you do MD Anderson in my personal opinion is one of the top if not the top place in the world to be if you have bladder cancer. Of course there are a few others in the United States you could get a second opinion at that have very good reputations if you like let me know and I will give you a few suggestions. And yes the Neo statistical has show to have more problems in woman than men. Did you talk about the Indiana Pouch with your surgeon? It might have the same risk of infection for you but it is worth asking. The truth of the matter is that no matter what kind of diversion you get they have pros and cons but the good news is we all tend to learn to deal with what we have well enough. It is funny how things can become everyday given time. I am sorry I just now answered but today was one of those days and this is the first chance I got, I am sure others will stop by and say hi. Let us know how it is going and remember we are here.

I'm a 49yr single mom of 2 beautiful kiddos, recently dx t3. I'm currently at MDA. Just finished my 1st of 4, maybe 6 rounds of chemo. My surgeon said I'm not a great candid for the neobladder procedure based on my life long reoccurring uti's and "females in general don't do as well with neobladder". Anybody have any insight on this? Also, any recommendations of other Dr's for a second opinion? I would prefer MDA Dr but the best health outcome is most important so I'm open to other areas? Thank you in advance
