Impact of hysterectomy

I'm afraid I can't help answer your concern...I had a hysto. at age 38 and so when I had my bladder out, I had already been thru the worst of menapause...I've never taken any hormones myself but perhaps I have had an easier time of it than most.

I know as the time grows closer for your surgery that anxiety is an issue, just try to stay as calm as possible and express your concerns here where experienced souls can help you along this journey. Those of us who have had our bladders removed have all been there. I was worried at some point that I might change my mind at the last hour while at the hospital but I didn't...in fact, a great calm came over me the last few days prior to surgery, and I am praying that you too will have that experience. Hopefully you trust your doctors and have a good support team along side you...and of course, all at the forum are here for you. Hang in there, I'm sure some of the gals will respond to this latest concern. Hugs. Melodie

Hi Everyone,
I'm facing my RC on Jan 18, and I know so many of you have been where I am, but I'm feeling so much of everything - mostly dread. Anyway, I'm so trying to be positive, but finding it getting harder as the day draws near...trying to stay focused on what I need to know and positive...reading everyone's stories is really helping and so many people here are so supportive.
I am supposed to have a complete hysterectomy and I'm going to my GP soon to get my hormonal blood levels done. I'm reading up on the impacts and know a bit about HRT. As I'm 49 just turned, I have been experiencing night sweats for a few years, and a few perimenopausal symtoms, but nothing severe. I did start to ask you guys a few things about this, but any comments/suggestions are welcome. My mom died of breast cancer at age 69, so I would like to go a more natural route than HRT if I can. I'm also seeing a homeopath soon.
