The American Bladder Cancer Society’s function is to raise awareness of bladder cancer among the general public and the medical community, to advocate through all means available the advance of research into a cure, treatment, early diagnosis and quality of life issues of survivors, to support bladder cancer survivors by providing community as well as by encouraging the concept of informed medical consumerism.

Awareness and Advocacy

The American Bladder Cancer Society’s function is to raise awareness of bladder cancer among the general public and the medical community, to advocate through all means available the advance of research into a cure, treatment, early diagnosis and quality of life issues of survivors. The ABLCS will strive to grasp every possible opportunity to raise awareness of bladder cancer inclusive of the general public, high risk groups, elected officials, government agencies, and medical professionals. Through all means at our disposal including printed publications, utilization of the media and internet presence. As well as giving blc survivors a voice by providing a presence at bladder cancer related functions such as conventions, symposiums and conferences.

Support

Support bladder cancer survivors by providing community as well as by encouraging the concept of informed medical consumerism.Through and expanded concept of on line community the ABLCS will provide a safe, user intuitive environment for the blc community to interface, offering them the opportunity to network, find resources and form community.  Using human factoring to give the inexperienced user ease of use in finding reliable information, while allowing the experienced user educational opportunities.  The goal of all information provided by the ABLCS will be accuracy, perpetuated by encouragement of collaboration between survivors, care givers, medical professional and their organizations.

Founding Principal

The American Bladder Cancer Society is founded on the principle that it is open and free to all, it does not discriminate on any basis inclusive of race/ethnicity, color, national origin, sex, disability, religious beliefs, financial status, veteran status, sexual orientation or age in the administration of any of its activities including employment, usage and community support. And that at all times its activities will embrace those in need and will reflect respect for all.
